This Winter was especially harsh as the economy plunged along with the temperatures. A lot of people are struggling through difficult times. Without minimizing the magnitude of these troubles, have you ever noticed the magical power of Spring? Not only do people seem much happier on these first days of sunshine with a hint of warmth to come, people sitting in the sun can double the actual temperature just through wishful thinking! While enjoying lunch on the Afsluitdijk, with the view pictured above, I swear everyone of us was convinced the temperature was +20 degrees as we shed layers of clothing, when in fact it was only 9.5 !
People tend to be in a collective good mood on these first days of spring and small irritations melt away instead of multiply. Since the Stock Market, Consumer Confidence and Consumer Spending are all based more on emotion than logic, it is not irrational to expect Spring to make a positive impact!
